Network Engineer SATCOM, SME, TS/SCI w/Poly

The network engineer will be responsible for designing, evaluating, testing, and planning of the customer’s complex internal network. The individual will provide expert technical assistance to team members with high-level system and networking requests. The individual will also secure and manage network infrastructures to protect productivity, mitigate threats, and reduce costs.
  • Master’s Degree in any technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
  • 10 to 15 years of directly related experience in System Engineering experience.
  • 8+ years supporting the customer.
  • Demonstrated on-the-job experience in tailoring systems engineering fundamentals in small but complex environments
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Action oriented, detailed, organized, and independent
  • Ability to react positively to changing environments and advance progress with minimal direction
  • Must have experience with satellite/RF systems analysis including link budgets, noise analysis, modulation/demodulation signal analysis, and forward error correction coding.
  • Must have the capability to organize schedule, coordinate work phases, and determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
  • Experience with implementation and expert operations and maintenance of LAN/LNB, up and down converters, FDMA, TDMA modems (military and commercial)
  • Prior datalink troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to learn and install video systems, network systems and satellite systems
  • Function in accordance with the project management framework tailored to mission needs
  • Must be able to collect and distill user requirements to technical system requirements
  • Must be able to engage in technical system planning beyond the network, to include applications and systems that utilize the network being delivered
  • Must be able to learn new technologies and characteristics of collection systems and how they affect or are affected by network characteristics
  • Prior military satellite communications operations experience preferred.
  • Previous experience working with DISA network team is preferred.
  • Experience writing technical requirements, specifications or statement of work is preferred.
  • Analyzes, designs, models, and simulates communications systems, subsystems, and algorithms for satellite communications networks.
  • Analyzes and provides information space segment lease cost, bandwidth requirements, and frequency management.
  • Provides expert operations and maintenance support of antenna controllers, Solid State Power Amplifier (SSPA), Low-Noise Amplifier (LNA)/Low-Noise Block downconverter (LNB), up and down converters, Frequency-Division multiple access (FDMA)/Time division multiple access (TDMA) modems (military and commercial)
  • Prior datalink troubleshooting skills
  • Provide support for commercial and military satellite acquisition procedures.
  • Performs, or directs the performance of complex engineering assignments involved in the research, design, and development of an overall FR STACOM system comprised of a number of components and or sub systems.
  • Manages SATCOM projects from concept to delivery of hardware solution.
  • Prepares plans, systems specifications, and equipment operating procedures.
